The SBR team also established analytical tools for standardizing future external event assessments, including M&A activity and product acquisition.

A leading insurance firm selected SBR to manage the design and roll out a new scorecard program. SBR directed the development and implementation of the metrics, and helped to ensure buy-in from staff. Management and staff were also trained to ensure successful execution of the scorecard rollout.

Sunrise — Environmental Scan and Market Intelligence

A top Canadian insurance company required very quick delivery of a risk assessment, and validation for its business case pertaining to new market opportunities, under trying circumstances. SBR gathered competitor intelligence on the as-yet untested Chinese insurance industry, established analytical metrics which could be re-booted for future use, and drew up a concise recommendations and conclusions paper.

On a tight schedule, SBR assisted one of Canada’s best-established insurance companies with the in-house preparation of a comprehensive 5-year strategic plan. The existing structure and LOB of the firm’s Engineering and Technical Services unit was analyzed, a Skunk Tank session was facilitated in order to help develop strategy, and intensive external research was conducted to identify competitive threats, and assess market conditions.

Fast Assist — Audit and Due Diligence

SBR was contracted by an international insurance group to assist in the reconcilliation of multiple bank statements to reported results. As a result of the audit, SBR prepared a model to assist with reconcilliations and forecasting.
